The design process…

When designing retail ranges I often draw on concepts, designs or ideas I’ve explored when making conceptual work for exhibition. My design process involves a lot of writing and drawing as I explore design solutions, so I use sketch books like they’re going out of style.  Then follows experimentation with materials, techniques and finishes to ensure that each design is resolved precisely and creatively.

Then comes the making…

My making process is usually fairly organised and sequential.  I aim to reproduce my design drawings precisely, but always leave room for unexpected ideas that pop up and take a design in a new and unexpected direction.
